Keeping Costs Down for with Development and Testing Services
BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Our Client is a leading provider of advanced software and network technologies built to manage complex institutional securities trading. They performed all testing, development, and support in their Manhattan and Boston offices.

However costs were getting out of control with increasing sales of custom systems and the ongoing development and testing of various updates, upgrades and patches. In addition, providing customer support for a wide variety of platforms required massive staffing increases in areas with high costs of labor. These rising costs were dramatically reducing operating income and they realized the need to open offshore centers to offset costs in the future.

PAMTEN’S SOLUTION

Because of our Clients’ heavy volume of business, PamTen recommended instead of a standard offshore consulting model to go with a Build, Operate, and Transfer model. This model was capable of fulfilling the Client’s staffing needs and would also minimize short term costs by relying upon the expertise of PamTen and by shifting financial, political, and technical issues back to the Client in an optimal fashion. Technology utilized in this solution included Java, J2EEE, Oracle, Quality Center, Rational ClearQuest, Selenium, SQL Plus and Bug Tracker.

BUSINESS BENEFITS

Our Client was able to greatly reduce operating costs by working closely with PamTen on the development and utilization of a new Offshore Support Center formed with highly skilled individuals. PamTen shifted responsibility back to the Client as they became more self-sufficient and capable of managing the offshore center as a wholly owned extension of their business. As a result Operating Income has continued to Increase.
